You don’t want to miss “PTSD: The Invisible Enemy.” The premiere will be Friday, May 2, 7 p.m., at the Garner Performing Arts Center (742 W Garner Rd, Garner, NC 27529). There is no admission fee, but we will accept donations.
The 60-minute film, narrated by Tony Award-winning actor Joe Mantegna, examines the devastating effects of post-traumatic stress on veterans of the Global War on Terror.
Produced by Show N Tell Ministries in collaboration with Chuck Fishbein of Crazy Duck Productions.
“On September 11, 2001, as the towers fell, a new generation of warriors rose. Thousands of young men and women answered the call, driven by duty, by grief, by a promise to never let such terror strike again. For two decades, they fought in distant lands, through the dust and fire of war. And then, in August 2021, the last American troops left Afghanistan. And although our troops are still in combat situations, the war, they were told, was over.
But for many, the battle never ended.
The enemy they face now is unseen, relentless. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder—PTSD—haunts them in the silence of homecomings, in the stillness of sleepless nights. It presses like a weight too heavy to bear, leading some to see only one escape… the ultimate way out.
And they are not alone.
Vietnam veterans know this pain well. Time has marched on, but the wounds remain. Their comrades have passed, their bodies have weakened, and loneliness has become an ever-present shadow. The youngest among them are in their 60s, yet for many, the hardest fight is not behind them—it is the battle to face another day.
These warriors, young and old, still fight. But this time, the enemy is within. It does not wear a uniform or carry a rifle. It whispers in the quiet, lingers in the past, and threatens to steal the future.”
It is the same voice that has helped make the National Memorial Day Concert (PBS) so extraordinary.
Did you know that we had 7,000 service members to die during the conflict, but more than 30,000 of those veterans have taken their own lives?
This film is designed to tell those veterans there is help and there is help. I need sponsors and donations to cover the costs of making the 60-minute documentary.
